Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
The short version: this site does not collect personal information, and the figures you type into the calculators never leave your device.
What we do not collect
There is no sign-up, no account, and no contact form. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or Social Security Number. We use no advertising trackers. We do use Google Analytics, on every page. It sets its own cookies, gives you an identifier that persists between visits, and sends Google the pages you open and your IP address. The figures you enter are never part of that: no calculator sends what you type anywhere, to Google or to us. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, Analytics is not loaded at all — most browsers offer one of the two in their privacy settings, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out everywhere.
What happens to the numbers you enter
Every calculation runs in JavaScript inside your own browser. Your age, earnings, work history, income and resources are used to render the result on screen and are then discarded when you close or reload the page. They are not sent to us or to anyone else — not in the analytics described below, and not anywhere else.
What we count
We count what people do on the site, never what they type into it. An event records that a calculator was opened, that someone began filling it in, that a submission was accepted, that a result appeared and whether it carried a money figure, that a recommendation or an official link was clicked, that the language was changed, and which state page or article was read. That is the whole list.
How that stays private
The site's own analytics sets no cookie, no visitor identifier and no session identifier, so two events cannot be tied to each other or to you. Every value that can be sent is chosen from a fixed list of the site's own names — a calculator id, a state, a language — so no figure you entered and no free text can be included; a value not on the list is dropped rather than sent. Those events go to this site's own address or nowhere. Google Analytics is a separate thing, described above, and runs on every page. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all. The full list of events and fields is published in ANALYTICS.md in the site's source code.
What is stored on your device
One item, in your browser's local storage: the language you chose from the switcher, so the site opens in it next time. It stays on your device, it is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Fonts and third parties
The typefaces are served from this site rather than from a font CDN, so loading a page does not reveal your visit or IP address to a third party. Google Analytics is the one exception: Google receives the pages you open and your IP address. The only outside links are to ssa.gov, which has its own privacy policy.
Server logs
Like any website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider that may keep standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested and browser user agent — for security and operational purposes. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you and do not combine them with anything you enter into the calculators.
Children
This site is aimed at adults planning for retirement or checking SSI eligibility. It is not directed at children, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Questions can go to contact@benefitcalculators.com.
