What this site is not
It is not a government website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Social Security Administration or any other government agency. Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice, and no estimate produced here can be used to claim a benefit. Official figures and applications live at ssa.gov.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure comes from a table a government agency publishes, and which table it was is kept on its own page so that it cannot quietly drift from the calculators. See where the figures come from.
Two habits follow from that. Where an agency publishes no national figure — which is how most state-run programmes work — the calculator says so and shows nothing, rather than dressing an average up as an answer. And where an estimate is simplified, it says which simplification it made: the retirement figure assumes a steady earnings history rather than indexing each year of your record, which is what the SSA actually does, so it compares claiming ages well and substitutes for your own statement badly.
What we do with your information
Nothing. The calculators run entirely inside your browser, and the numbers you type are never transmitted anywhere. There is no sign-up, no account, and no request for your Social Security Number. See the privacy policy for the detail.
Languages
Every page is published in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog and Korean. The translations cover the calculators, the results and the explanations, not only the menus, because a benefit estimate you cannot read is not an estimate.
Accessibility
The site is built to work with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, and in a high-contrast theme. What is done and what is not is set out in the accessibility statement.

Every number this site shows comes from a figure a government agency publishes. None of them is an average, a projection, or last year's figure carried forward because this year's had not appeared yet.
